I successfully combined my studies with work and other commitments showing myself to be self-motivated, organized and capable of working under pressure. I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion. I enjoy working on my own initiative or in a team. In short, I am reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and eager to learn.
Having spent the last ten (10) years working in development sector, I have come to realize that my passion lies in helping people who are less advantaged. I am currently taking an access to learn more to further my ambition to become a expert and professional development worker.
I have also working experience in different development projects and donors like, PARWAAN PRE SCHOOL, Sudhar Society project Funded by Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA), Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), HUMQADAM Program (School Construction and Rehabilitation Program), Implemented by IMC Worldwide, Building Skills for life Project (Girls Education), Implemented by Children’s Global Network Pakistan and Plan International Pakistan, School Improvement Program (SIP), Citizen Voice Project funded by USAID, Social Mobilization Project Funded by PPAF and Supporting Access to Family Planing and Post obbortion Care, (SAF-PAC Project) and Women and Reproductive Health Initiatives (WARHI) funded by Care International while working with District Education Authorities (DEA) at district level and other departments at provincial level.
I also found an opportunity to work with International Agencies and National level public and private sector organizations. Also have experience of working with diverse groups and communities during my assignments with British Council at Truro, St. Austel and London (UK) .
This gave me great insight into the role of a social worker as I was attending multi-disciplinary care reviews helping service users to determine their present needs and wishes and identify future goals and desired outcomes, on an ongoing basis, whilst promoting empowerment, individuality, rights, responsibilities, identity and self esteem. I was putting individual plans into action by helping individuals with life skills e.g. developing basic personal skills like as budgeting and money managing skills, providing information or helping service users to access information relevant to their needs and wishes, assisting them to develop a higher level of independence and improve their communication and social skills.
I learnt how to communicate with community members and services providers about sensitive issues in an appropriate manner, understanding and being prepared for their reactions to the information. This job significantly improved my communication skills, my patience, and my initiative. As a result I became more aware of my own values and beliefs whilst showing respect for all persons and their values, beliefs, cultures, goals, needs and preferences.
I learnt about community development, Program planning and implementation, Monitoring and evaluation, social and cultural beliefs, laws & legislations and different government policies involved in social care and the different forms it can take and how to help individuals take control of their lives.
I hope with my positive attitude and determination to improve my own quality of life I can reflect this into my practice when helping others.
